Perpetual draws from Madison Nghiem’s experience of understanding the intersections of her mixed ethnic identity. As she looks at the crosshairs of her Vietnamese, Filipino, and white heritage, she researches the histories of her family, working towards recognition of all that came before her. Honoring this past, she identifies that she herself is proof of unwavering strength through various world events, pains, and sacrifices.

At the core of each work resides themes of movement, transition, resilience, celebration, and remembrance. These pieces coalesce as a collection of the artist’s own personal research as she reaches towards discovery and self-acceptance.
