Dan Jacobs, Gallery Director and Curator of University Art Collections

Dan Jacobs is the first full-time director of the University of Denver’s Victoria H. Myhren Gallery. Jacobs, whose 20-year career includes positions at the Denver Art Museum and Getty Conservation Institute, has also served as Curator of University Art Collections since his appointment in 2005. Before coming to DU, Jacobs was a consulting scholar and co-curator for projects at the Timken Museum of Art in San Diego. He worked at the Denver Art Museum from 1990 to 1998, first as Director of Public Affairs & Development and later as Assistant Director for Special Projects. In 1981, he graduated from Harvard College, in Art History. In 1984, he obtained his M.B.A.with a concentration in arts management from UCLA, and in 2004 he received the M.A. in Art History from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Jacobs’ personal research interests include the historical and contemporary uses of the human body in artworks, including anatomical art.

Nessa Kerr, Collections Manager, University Art Collections

Nessa (M.A. 2015) has been working at the Myhren Gallery since September 2011 when she began her graduate degree at DU in Art History and Museum Studies. She worked as a Graduate Gallery Assistant and the Assistant to the Director before moving into her current position as Collections Manager. Nessa is passionate about museum collections and sharing them with the DU and Denver Communities. In her spare time, she is a ballet instructor and an avid hiker.

Lauren Abman,  Assistant to the Director

Lauren Abman holds a Masters in Public Humanities from Brown University’s Center for Public Humanities. She worked previously at the Williams College Museum of Art, Boys and Girls Club, RISD Museum and the Denver Art Museum.

Lauren Greenwell, Collections Assistant

Lauren is an alumni of DU’s Art History and Museum Studies graduate Program. She is interested in modern and contemporary art and has a particular fascination with photography – especially 19th century stereographs. Her recent research interests include – 19th century stereograph collecting practices, imagery tied to pilgrimage at El Santuario de Chimayo, and the contemporary photography of Will Wilson. She also has a steadily growing collection of old cameras and dabbles in photography from time to time. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, running, and drinking tea while snuggling with her adorable feline friend (she and her boyfriend fully acknowledge they take too many pictures of the cat).

Stephanie Khoury, Collections Assistant

Stephanie recently graduated from the University of Denver with a Masters in art history with a concentration in museum studies. She moved to Colorado from Nashville, Tennessee during which time she received a Bachelors in art history from the University of Tennessee. One of the original Roy Klein Graduate Fellows, Stephanie helped organize the staff and faculty art fair held twice on DU’s campus.

Lauren Hartog,  Senior Gallery Assistant

Lauren is a second year grad student working towards a masters degree in art history with a concentration in museum studies.Previously Lauren has interned at the Museo de las Americas Denver, the Freeport Art Museum and the Wright Museum of Fine Art. Though she has a background in Buddhist art, her current areas of research include digital and psychedelic art, particularly GIFs and light shows.  When she’s free Lauren also enjoys Denver’s awesome music scene, writing weird poetry and over-caffeination.
