Opening Reception: Thursday, May 17th 5 – 8 pm
We are pleased to announce our annual BFA show titled “Thread,” which features four senior BFA students Jeanette Chinelli, Ellen Kenston, Mikayla Michelson, and Ian Wagner. These soon to be graduates approach their practices with diverse materials and methods, utilizing mediums from printmaking to textiles to digital works. Please join us for our opening reception May 17th, 5-8pm. Music and refreshments will be provided! Artist details below.
Jeanette Chinelli’s multimedia work approaches everyday objects with a touch of whimsy. Playing with depth, her works utilize sharp angles and flat space to create perceptional juxtapositions, at times evoking a sense of emptiness.
Mikayla Michelson is a sculptor who uses fabric and paper mache to create both small and large-scale pieces. Her quirky and imaginative style uses tactile materials to stimulate and delight, creating immersive spaces of color and animal imagery.
Ellen Kenston employs screen printing and embroidery to create her decidedly playful works. Her most recent work employs embroidered black and white photographs, using contrast and humor to engage the viewer.
Ian Wagner has worked with the Vicki Myhren Gallery previously designing graphics for our Fall 2017 exhibition Push Play. He specializes in digital art and design, incorporating sculpture, installation, photography, and two and three-dimensional image making.
