Join us for a spooky conversation about Maisel’s practice and his “Library of Dust” series, part of which is currently on view at VMG. David Maisel is a contemporary photographer interested in the power and production of space by examining landscapes and objects that are off-limits, quarantined, or hidden from view. In his series Library of Dust Maisel photographed copper canisters filled with cremated remains of patients from an abandoned state-run psychiatric hospital. This exhibition focuses on the everyday reality of art making that is overlooked. Works exhibited in museums and galleries are only final products of tedious research. Vicki Myhren Gallery will be closed during the University of Denver Thanksgiving holiday, reopening on Saturday, November 24th for the final few days of Axis Mundo.  We will then be closed for the remainder of the year as we gear up for our next exhibition, Fieldworks: Creative Research by DU Faculty.  Have a wonderful holiday season!
