Anthropomorphic Me

Artwork by Ashlyn Bennett (DU ’26)

On view in the Davis Gallery October 16 through November 9, 2025

Bennett reclaims the nude female figure by referencing and abstracting Venus sculptures and presenting them without the male gaze in an environment that encapsulates growth, beauty, and divine feminine energy. This energy nurtures the spiritual, physical, and emotional growth in one’s life. It highlights being intentional with what you choose to surround yourself with, and what you maintain in your space. Bennett uses plants that have historically been used as abortives in her sculptures to emphasize the importance of exercising bodily autonomy.
