Conor McGarrigle: and whenabouts in the name of space
Digital artist Conor McGarrigle is a newly appointed Assistant Professor in Emergent Digital Practices here at the University of Denver. I am pleased to offer an introduction to some of his fascinating recent works here at the Victoria H. Myhren Gallery. Conor’s explorations span from “peripatetic relational space” –inspired by everything from James Joyce’s “Ulysses” to the Irish banking crisis—to the unusual elegance of a degraded BitTorrent video. Combining physical and psychic geographies, Conor is pioneering some new ways of connecting people, information, literature, and art. Conor has shown work in Dublin, Seoul, Cordoba, London, Rio de Janeiro, Stuttgart, Manchester, at the 2011 Venice Biennale, and in many other venues.
