September 30 – November 14, 2010
The 2010 Juried Alumni Exhibition, which continues the Gallery’s commitment to the art of its former students. Periodic juried exhibitions of work by our alumni allow us to explore and present the history of the School through the work of its students. These exhibitions are also important in helping to identify and connect alumni with the School and with one another.
All former students of the School of Art & Art History were invited to submit recent work for inclusion in the Myhren Gallery’s Juried Alumni Exhibition. Through the support of the office of Alumni Relations, we were able to conduct the application and jurying process without requesting an entry fee. I also gratefully acknowledge both Nora Burnett Abrams, Associate Curator, MCA Denver, and Linny Frickman, Director, University Art Museum, Colorado State University, who served as guest jurors for the exhibition.
There were no restrictions on medium or subject matter. The selection of styles and media was therefore wide-ranging. I know that the choices were sometimes difficult for our jurors, but I think that the results provide an interesting overview of work in many styles and media. It’s also worth noting that the selection includes only a few repeats from our last Juried Alumni Exhibition of winter, 2008.
