Visual Trips: The Psychedelic Poster Movement in San Francisco opens its doors next Thursday, October 2, with an opening reception from 5 to 8 P.M. Please join the staff of the Vicki Myhren Gallery to kick off the final exhibition celebrating the Sesquicentennial of the University of Denver in style. Psychedelic music will be provided by Bill Pohl and colorful drinks and light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to everyone.
Over 200 original drawings, photographs, mechanical drawings, acetate sheets and posters will be feature in a rich visual array chronicling the artistic technique behind the psychedelic imagery. The exhibition is curated by the University of Denver’s own Dr. Scott Montgomery and showcases his recent research illustrating how artists defined the visual component of the psychedelic scene as it unfolded. Stanley Mouse, Rick Griffin, Victor Moscoso, Bonnie MacLean, Wes Wilson and Lee Conklin are among the leading artists featured.
