Savannah Kirksey

Graduate Gallery Assistant/Intern

During my graduate career, I have worked at the Denver Art Museum, Madden Museum, and Vicki Myhren Gallery, focusing on Museum Education as a way to connect art with the community. My scholarly interests revolve around Museum Education, specifically how museum professionals can make art accessible to new and diverse communities creatively. I am also very interested in giving American women artists primarily from the Southwest who were previously overlooked their rightful place in Art History—my current focus is on the artist Loyce Easley. My jobs and academic focuses have given me unique insights into how and why people interact with specific artists, works, and exhibitions. Using what I have learned, I have developed fun and engaging activities for the University of Denver Community at the Vicki Myhren Gallery. One fun fact about me is that my 2021 goal is to learn how to crochet!
