This work is based on trauma I personally went through surrounding my father. Being next of kin handling the chaos, witnessing the effects of a heart attack, stroke, coma, and having professionals being unsure of whether if… pushed me to reflect. The installation is entirely made of plastic, wood, and thread. The process of creation is stretching, melting, and cutting which reminds me of cauterizing and mending the body. While creating, I was reflecting on ideas based on micro and macro, pushing experience into a form, entropy, the space in which materials exist and tell a story, symbolic meaning in material, and one’s own relationship with this work and world. The installation and objects are intended to push one’s thoughts into the realm of the traumatic where the work reflects subconsciously in the viewer.
